On our last weekend in Morocco, we all decided to take just one more trip. Even though all the locals said that Marrakech was really touristy, we thought we'd give it a try, considering that it was on of the closer big destination cities by train. So we bought our tickets, and sped away as the sun started to go down.
After going to Chefchaouen and Tangier, we decided that we needed to see more of Rabat! While Rabat isn't a huge tourist city, the locals will still be able to point you in the direction of many things to see. We started by walking out of the medina and out to the old chellah, which is the old fortress walls of the city.
After volunteering for a few days, the school was closed for holiday and we got a day off. We asked around with the locals to see if there was anywhere to go for a day. Everyone answered, "Casablanca," and told us that it was a place worth seeing, but was more touristy than most cities. So, we hopped on the train, and got there a few hours later. The first thing we did was go to the Hassan II Mosque, the only mosque that tourists can go into, and also one of the largest mosques in the world.
